Amanda Sperber

Amanda Sperber is an East Africa based freelance foreign correspondent with bases in Nairobi and Mogadishu. She is a 2018 IWMF Fellow and 2018 Truman Fellow. Her 2016 coverage from Sudan’s rebel-held Blue Nile region was shortlisted for an Amnesty International Media Award. Amanda writes dispatches and features online and in print for Agence France Presse, The Atlantic, the Daily Beast, Foreign Policy, Marie Claire, Roads and Kingdoms and VICE, among numerous other publications. The ACLU, Congressional Research Service, Council on Foreign Relations, Freedom House and various UN agencies cite her expert reporting.
